Mechanism (cont.):
- When the loss of a marked packet occurs, both the priority and best-effort windows are reduced.
- When the loss of a unmarked packet occurs, only the best-effort window is backed off.
- The connection keeps track of two additional threshold values, pssthresh and bssthresh.
- If either one of the windows is below its respective threshold, it is in slow start mode. And the increases are scaled so that the overall congestion window doesn’t grow any faster that in unmodified TCP.
