Deployment Issues (2/4)
Dealing with non-responsive flows:
- The proliferation of applications which do not adapt to network dynamics can lead to performance degradation and even congestion collapse.
- When used in conjunction with intelligent queue management mechanism, it can penalize non-responsive flows.
- When the flow doesn’t respond to congestion signals given by the bottleneck queue and continues to send an inordinate amount of unmarked packets, the fair ERED queue limits its throughput to a fair share of best-effort bandwidth.
